Drew Darcy - unbeatable prices
Born in Shrewsbury, Shropshire in 1976, Drew Darcy grew up gaining his artistic abilities
from his mothers side of the family, his grandfather on that side being a famed and
talented tailor decended from one of the five generations of tailors trained in Saville Row. Going into Stonyhurst College in Lancashire he studied Art and became introduced to his now-favoured medium: oil paint. After finishing at Stonyhurst he moved on to Bourneville Art College to study Art and Design.
Since graduating he continued to develop his skills and in 2002 he began a career as a
full time professional artist. Darcy successfully exhibited multiple times around the UK and was able to exhibit five of his pieces at the Fine Arts Trade Autumn Fair in 2004, the fame he gained from this opportunity caught the eye of the publisher Washington Green, which launched his career firmly as a professional artist.
Darcy's pieces explore the depth of the female form, catching every curve with flawless muscle flow, Darcy uses his strength of line and shading in a way that allows the form to be fully explored, tonally and as a silhoette or an outline. Brightly coloured background and striking shapes are used to contrast the soft form on hard unnatural shapes to create a powerful and thought provoking series of images.
