Bob Barker - unbeatable prices
Bob Barker was born in Yorkshire 1954 and lives in Bradford. He first became interested in art after receiving an oil painting set one Christmas as a present from his mother.
Although Yorkshire born and bred he did live a short while in Cornwall during his youth, and it was there he met artists Keith English and Tom Gower whom he watched and learnt from giving him his belief that he too could be a professional artist.
His mother worked in a nearby mill to his school as a weaver and when he finished school he would go to the mill and wait for her to finish work, whilst there he would talk to the other workers and take in the atmosphere of the factory and its smell of the looms. His Grandmother also worked there as a tea lady, where his love of tea comes from.
Bob is married with children and at first ran his own business and painted as a hobby. He ran his business in video and media production for over twenty years but now his daughter-in-law has taken it over so that Bob can pursue his dream of being a full time artist.
He first started selling his paintings in 2000 to local galleries, his brother Colin bombarded fine art publishers with discs featuring Bob’s work which generated interest in his work. Then in 2005 his work was exhibited at the Autumn Fair in Birmingham and he was introduced to Washington Green’s Glyn Washington and from there has never looked back.
Bob says that his ideas come from everywhere he looks.
