Carol Gillan - unbeatable prices
Carol Gillan is best known for her humourous animal portraits.
Carol Gillan was born in 1961 in Lancashire, and after leaving school, went on to study art in Brighton. After leaving Brighton, Carol had a successful career as an illustrator, deciding though to concentrate on her main passion- being a full time artist.
Now living in Surrey, Carol lives close to farms, when she is out walking she always has her camera to hand to be able to take photo’s of cows and dogs she comes across along the way. Due to the nature of her specialist subject matter, Carol has to use photo’s more to be able to capture the character of the animal, this then allows her to portray the inquisitive nature of the animals in with a realistic, distinctive interpretation.
Her preferred medium is oil on canvas, building up the image using thin layers of paint.
Carol's work has been exhibited widely across the UK and Europe and she has undertaken a variety of commissions for individuals and corporations.
She came first in 2006 in Demontfort fine art new artist competition.
