Rolf Harris - unbeatable prices
Best known for a wide range of styles Rolf Harris CBE is known throughout the world as a painter and TV personality.
Rolf Harris CBE was born in Western Australia (Perth) on 30th March 1930. As a child all Rolf wanted to be was an artist, and if anyone was ever to ask what he wanted to be when he grew up, that is what he would tell them.
Rolf moved to England in 1952 on a years study. He paid for his trip using the money he had off four art exhibitions that he held in Australia. Wanting to follow in his Grandfathers footsteps and become a portrait painter, Rolf enrolled at the City & Guilds art school in London, although after an encounter with ‘Bill’ Haywood Veal (an impressionist painter), Rolf then stared the course run by him. While painting was a major passion in his life, Rolf became a household name for his TV and stage work.
In more recent years, he has been devoting more time to painting and has had a large amount of exhibitions including the Rolf on Art exhibition at the national gallery. His television series Rolf on Art achieved the highest ratings for a UK arts programme. He also hosted three BBC specials of Rolf on Art: The Big event in Trafalgar Square, Edinburgh and in London.
Rolf was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in 2006, after previously being awarded an MBE (Member of the British Empire ) in 1968 and an OBE ( Order of the British Empire) in 1989 and was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia.
Rolf was commissioned to paint a portrait of Her Majesty the Queen to celebrate her 80th Birthday, and was shown on the BBC on New Years Day 2006.
