John Wilson first developed a love of art when he was only ten years only when he won first prize in his school's Easter Card Competition, inspiring him to keep on drawing, he received a set of oil paints and an easel for Christmas whe he was 12, the easel being the very same as the one he uses now.

Growing up, he enrolled in painting classes on Saturday mornings at Harrogate School of Art where Wilson was shown pop art and figure painting for the first time. After his daughters were born he began running his own business to earn a living and as a
result had to paint only as a hobby, separately. However, once the 1990's began, Wilson turned back to art and painted with more heart than ever before, successfully exhibiting in many local galleries.

Wilson's style is purposefully playful and incredibly naiive, displaying people as childish drawings and stick figures whilst painting landscapes and environments in a detailed but cartoony style, distorting it and the perspective in many cases to create a sense of humour and distinctive light-heartedness.No Artworks Exists
