Sarah Jane Szikora is best known in the Art Industry for her style of drawing larger ladies as well as gingerbread men.

Sarah Jane Szikora was born in 1971 in County Durham (Bishop Auckland). She has been enjoying painting and drawing her entire life, after leaving school attending a college in Harrogate to study graphics, photography and sculpture.

After leaving Harrogate she then enrolled on another course at Cleveland College of Art. After graduating from Cleveland she didn’t know how to turn her education and passion into a full time income. Sarah Jane Szikora set up a company in 1991 hand making papier-mâché models called ‘Wild Thing’, selling her pieces out of a shop in York which kept her busy for a few years until deciding enough was enough and started trying to sell her college pieces.

Her style of larger ladies sold really well and quickly, which gave her the push she needed to carry on full time with her painting instead of the models, and ever since hasn’t stopped painting. After a while her partner took over the responsibility of having her work published as cards.

Soon after Sarah Jane Szikora found herself an art agent and it was them who introduced her to Washington Green in 1995, and from there they started publishing her work as limited edition prints. Sarah Jane Szikora became a self publishing artist in 2008 and at the end of 2009 began working with Demonfort fine art to help distribute her work to a larger market.
