Birim Aksuyek was born in Turkey, Bursa in 1958 and is known for his colorful watercolor paintings of wild horses.
His love of horses shows in his work and he has spent most of his childhood around them. He also studied Veterinary Medicine at university.
Birimís work captures his love and study of the horse. He even worked for the Turkish Jockey Club for seventeen years as a veterinary surgeon, where he gained an understanding of the psychology and social lives of the animal and painted at the same time. He completed his veterinary internship at a clinic in Normandy, France 1980 and in 1981 graduated from Ankara University, Turkey.
Birim likes to use watercolor and acrylics and encapsulates the dynamic galloping of horses with their manes flying in the wind and clouds of dust being churned from the ground beneath. His use of the palette creates a dramatic scene and you are drawn to the emotion of the picture as he portrays his feelings of joy, passion and thrills with them.
Although Birim has lived and painted in Turkey most of his time, he has for the past 3 years spent time abroad travelling and painting. He spends most days painting, often into the early hours of the morning. When he is not painting he enjoys the outdoor life like trekking and exploring but is always sketching and creating new ideas from his inspiration which is the animal itself.
