Daisy Boman is known for her 4 Dimensional sculptures.

Daisy Boman was Born in Belgium, and as a child always enjoyed drawing, leading to her getting a place at the Academy of Fine art, studying photography and interior design, after this daisy moved on to ceramics. In 1981 her husband was offered a job in South Africa, so they both moved to Johannesburg.

It was here that Daisy exhibited her works in the National Ceramics Exhibition several times. Her work is influenced by her time in South Africa during the Apartheid.

Daisy returned to Belgium in 1986, and her first exhibition after returning was held in 1987 in Antwerp, but had this South African Influence.

When she was asked to describe her works and in particular her ‘Bo-men’, Daisy said;

“They have a unique language, faceless characters that ask for people to look at them for who they are rather than their looks, their uniform white color because race shouldn’t matter, square headed because we all come from the same mould.”

Her characters make people smile, but they do still have a serious side, all striving to do better, racing each other, making their own choices and all carrying the burden of life.
